New Company's arrival fills void: president

Published Tuesday February 15th, 2011 in the Telegraph-Journal

Small and medium-sized businesses are the growth engine of the economy, but they often face significant challenges.

One of them is financing the equipment they need to operate their businesses.

Now a Canadian company has opened its Atlantic Canadian headquarters in Quispamsis to address this need. Blue Chip Leasing Atlantic started its operations in the valley town four months ago.

"I saw a real need here," said Blue Chip president Larry Hachey. "I saw where Atlantic Canadian companies couldn't acquire the capital they needed."

Hachey said many small and medium-sized businesses don't want to get a traditional line of credit from a bank for a depreciating asset. Yet they need equipment - whether its software or machinery - in order to operate.

"They need that equipment and often times they don't have the funds to get all the bells and whistles," Hachey said.

Hachey, who lives in Quispamsis, has obtained the Atlantic Canadian franchise for Blue Chip Leasing Corporation, a Canadian-owned business that's been operating in the country for 14 years.

Blue Chip Leasing Atlantic will offer equipment financing solutions. Companies can choose the equipment supplier of their choice and apply to Blue Chip to lease the equipment back to them over a required term that offers competitive rates, tax advantages and easy ownership options.

The company will finance almost any asset that a business will use to generate profit except for licensed vehicles - everything from dental equipment, medical equipment, software and computers to telephone systems, landscaping equipment, forklifts and manufacturing equipment.

Hachey believes the opening of Blue Chip Leasing Atlantic fills a void in the Atlantic provinces, which are largely ignored by other national leasing companies.

"They don't believe there is a market here," he said.

"But I know there is a market here."

Blue Chip Leasing Atlantic has created four local jobs but expects to expand its workforce across Atlantic Canada as it opens offices in the other three provinces.

"The whole idea is to cover all of the Atlantic provinces by this time next year," Hachey said.
